This is obviously the Vana'diel people want...

Make no secret... I understand why people are laughing out loud at me...

I am dealing with a bunch of little boys who badly need to be slapped.

Sadly, this appears to be what FFXI is made of these days... A bunch of me-first little boys who say"Fuck the game, the rules, and everyone else but me."

I can't understand why that's the case, except if these people (as my roommate has suggested to me after reading only some of the Zulu drama -- and there's more to that now that I'll get to) openly desire the destruction of Vana'diel...

They'll get it. There's no reason to believe that there isn't a reconsideration of FFXI's immediate future going on. Note: 4:10 PM PST 2/25/09 -- no version update news yet.

The version update, if it comes with normal "hype period", is going to be at least 2 1/2 weeks behind schedule. But, since we've heard nothing (even a statement of delay), it starts to make you wonder...

Especially how much the game has seemed to further deteriorate in the last month:

-- I just quit my social LS after continually hearing more blatant garbage, this time over /shout in Besieged. You can tell where that went. A few more names I can add to the list of people who only need to come to Riverside, CA if they really want to find out how much I hide behind my computer...

-- Zulu's drama on Fenrir has apparently exploded, almost as predicted: Sounds as if, the first time a really desireable item dropped, the LS promptly imploded as the LS leader bogarted everyone.

Welcome to the state of present Vana'diel.

Even my roommate is now calling on me to quit the game. Not for the same reasons a lot of the cheating bitches are, but because she now believes they have effective ownership of FFXI, Square-Enix powerless to stop them.

If Square-Enix doesn't get off it's ass and starts doing something, something's going to get done for them.

Keep laughing. There will come a day the laughing will cease.

(Unless, of course, like my roommate asserts, your final goal is the destruction of Vana'diel.)

We get it. You're bitter. You're an internet tough guy. You're disappointed in the game and blame it on the players and the company. You think everyone cheats. In some posts you show a developing ego about being the most read blog and thinking its a good thing. It's not.

I speak for a lot of the lurkers here when I say we're just watching a grown man throw a tantrum and laughing our asses off.
You proudly state you left a server because "strategy wasn't used" and /sh. It's a brawl on every server. There is no strat other than hang out in a party and kill fast. You make a comment that japanese don't cheat when they obviously get there first. Hell the reason the NA/EU pops don't hang out more with the JP is just simple autotrans is all you got. Nothing about "honor", everything about comfort.

The majority of users don't post on forums about the game. They play the game. They enjoy it and they don't bother with cheating devices or exploits. They don't worry about e-peen. They socialize and offer tips, set up rivalries, interact and compete with so much more than over a few rare/ex drops.

Obviously the real game was never for you. If you feel the need to post about anime conventions and needing a saturday night special you really aren't a tough guy. If you think something that never affected your gameplay killed the game then you're overreacting. (It is pretty funny though) Drop off MMO games and just chill. Also stop referring to your mom as a roommate.

Now prepare a twice as lenthy post rebutting me. I wish to be entertained, naive, and the comments got slow.

Sincerely,
A DRK/RDM happily enjoying his time in Sylph.

I don't think there is some kind of vast conspiracy or cooperative effort among endgame players to "destroy vana'diel". I think what it boils down to is people play because they want cool items for their character(s) and a lot of times the bad drop rates and difficulty involved with obtaining said items leads people to a little shady behavior in order to get what they want. Either item duping or just being a loot whore and taking items over others who could use them better just because they can. It's not right, but that's the way things are, and if you are so unhappy with FFXI then for the love of god stop playing. Your posts have opened up a whole new universe of hating the endgame community and TTTO because it is a huge stain of negativity that I just don't want to be aware of.

O Danny Boy, please get a clue:

The only disagreement I would have with much of this paragraph is the use of the word "Internet" in the third sentence. The only reason I'm not in state prison right now is because I have a real life and things more important to me than the one thing I'd like to do, and that's cripple some of the punks and drunks which have taken over our society.

I speak for a lot of the lurkers here when I say we're just watching a grown man throw a tantrum and laughing our asses off.

Uh, no shit, Sherlock. And, in fact, shit-head, you're not just speaking for a lot of the lurkers -- you're also speaking for about 90% of my comments.

Uh, I think you need several adjustments to that:

1) The reason I left Asura was that no one seemed to care that they were continually pissing away the Astral Candescence about every three weeks -- with LF(non-Besieged)P, only there to skill up and not to actually participate in combat, etc.

2) I would suggest you get in touch with some of the Japanese community and find out how much the American player-base absolutely _DISGUSTS_ them. Japanese culture actually encourages the real effort central to FFXI. American culture spits all over that, and just wants to ninjar all the leet gear.

The majority of users don't post on forums about the game. They play the game. They enjoy it and they don't bother with cheating devices or exploits. They don't worry about e-peen. They socialize and offer tips, set up rivalries, interact and compete with so much more than over a few rare/ex drops.

That's news to me. (Said from both observations in and out of game.)

Obviously the real game was never for you. If you feel the need to post about anime conventions and needing a saturday night special you really aren't a tough guy. First, I almost wish someone had handed me a Saturday Night Special that morning. Then I wouldn't have to deal with flaming idiots like you. (By the by, I got more respect in the joint in eight months than on the outside 10 years since.)

Second, it DOES effect my gameplay. It effects my decisions as to how I choose to spend my time. (Which see Besieged on Asura, before I left that shit-pile... Oh, and which server got hit with a lot of the bans to decimate their endgame?? Thank you.)

Third, my mom died 30 years ago. I almost wish she were my roommate, though -- it'd probably be a lot saner than having to deal with you.

Resheph:

I don't think there is some kind of vast conspiracy or cooperative effort among endgame players to "destroy vana'diel".

I disagree, to this extent:

They want to play the game on their terms and their terms alone -- and those terms are what has destroyed Vana'diel... I mean, read about the bots and the Ninjar'ed lots and the RMT and all this garbage... They want the game on their terms, not Square-Enix'.

I think what it boils down to is people play because they want cool items for their character(s) and a lot of times the bad drop rates and difficulty involved with obtaining said items leads people to a little shady behavior in order to get what they want.

They have no right to such expectation. Perhaps there's a reason the drop rates are shit. Has anyone ever considered that?

And if it is truly not worth playing, then _LEAVE_!! What a concept!!!

(Not hating on you, there -- more to the culture you speak of.)

Either item duping or just being a loot whore and taking items over others who could use them better just because they can. It's not right, but that's the way things are, and if you are so unhappy with FFXI then for the love of god stop playing.

I would, except that's what a lot of the shit-heads want. I haven't enjoyed this game that much at all for the last, oh, 6-12 months...

But I am here solely to spit all over these shit-heads and to expose them for the greedy retarded bitches they are.

Your posts have opened up a whole new universe of hating the endgame community and TTTO because it is a huge stain of negativity that I just don't want to be aware of.

Then don't take part, because that "hating" is greatly necessary if even Rapture is to have a future, much less Vana'diel.

Update preview was released yesterday!

Look's like the update shifted to April. Probably cause of the bannings.

Note that we have not seen, yet, a February STF report (unless it was posted to the new STF page within the last 24 hours), which indicates to me that they might be a bit busy.
